”Language is the gateway to understanding society and the culture of a nation and is an important element that unites people and gives a nation’s identity,” said the Indonesian Ambassador in Lima in his remarks at the Opening of Indonesian Language Class for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) of the Indonesian Embassy in Five Semester II Academic Year 2021 which will be held on October 4, 2021.
Within 1 week of the opening of registration, as many as 373 people have registered for the BIPA Class for Semester II of the 2021 Academic Year. The Indonesian Embassy in Lima opens 5 classes consisting of 3 classes for beginner level (A1) and 1 class for advanced level (A2) and 1 class for Conversation which will last for 3 months. Due to the large number of enthusiasts in this semester, the Indonesian Embassy in Lima opened 2 additional classes from the previous 3 classes. Of the 5 BIPA class teachers, two of them are Peruvians, former participants of the Darmasiswa scholarship.
In addition to Indonesian, the teachers will also introduce Indonesian culture such as dances, Indonesian specialties, tourism destinations and other customs, said the Indonesian Ambassador. The Indonesian Embassy in Lima together with Indonesian language teachers have designed activities that can introduce Indonesia, such as cooking classes and dance performances to foster a positive image of Indonesia in Peru.
