In an effort to obtain Bolivian visa-free facilities for Indonesian citizens, the Indonesian Ambassador to Lima, Marina Estella Anwar Bey, met the Bolivian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Rogelio Mayta, on November 9, 2021 in La Paz, Bolivia. During the meeting, the Indonesian Ambassador said that many Indonesian citizens are interested in visiting Bolivia for either tourism or business purposes, but until now they have always been constrained by difficulties in obtaining visas. In 2021, an Indonesian youtuber, Mario Iroth, has made 4 (four) videos about his visit to Bolivia. The video has been watched by 1.5 million and attracted Indonesian citizens to visit Salar de Uyuni and Carretera de la Muerte in Bolivia.

Minister Rogelio Mayta expressed his pleasure at the interest of Indonesian citizens to come to Bolivia and is committed to providing Bolivian visa-free facilities for Indonesian citizens before the end of 2021. In 2016, Indonesia has provided visa-free facilities for 30 (thirty) days for Bolivian citizens who visit to Indonesia.

The Indonesian Ambassador also had the opportunity to promote the Indonesia – Latin America and Caribbean Business Forum to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade of Bolivia, Ambassador Benjamin Blanco. The INALAC Business Forum which has been held annually since 2019 has become the main forum for stakeholders and business people from Indonesia and Latin American and Caribbean countries.

In addition to seeing opportunities to import Indonesian products to Bolivia, Deputy Minister Benjamin Blanco also expressed Bolivia’s desire to explore export opportunities to Indonesia, especially in the agricultural sector such as tropical fruit products, namely bananas, pineapples, peppers, curcuma, quinoa and chia seeds. This can be promoted through the ina-access.com website application provided by the Government of Indonesia which functions as a forum for promoting exports – imports of Indonesia and countries in the Latin America and Caribbean region, said the Indonesian Ambassador.
